Most extensive information that has come out from spy shots of the upcoming KTM 390 Adventure bikes
Big news for adventure bike fans! Two versions of the upcoming KTM 390 Adventure were spotted during testing - the Standard 390 Adventure and an Enduro variant. This update brings a bunch of new features, and the design differences make it clear these are distinct models. Here's a breakdown of the design and hardware details.
Both bikes share the same chassis and swingarm, but the body panels are all-new. The bike on the right is the KTM 390 Adventure, and the left one is the KTM 390 Enduro. We'll dive into each design separately but first here are some common bits. They're expected to have the same 399cc LC4 engine from the current generation of 390 Duke. It's likely to be unchanged with around 46 bhp and 39 Nm. Both come with engine crash guards, bash plates, and saree guards. They also share 21-inch front and 18-inch rear spoke wheels with tube tires. Both have the same tail lights but they are different when compared to the current Duke.
The Enduro has a unique front headlight design - a single unit with a smaller flyscreen reaching handlebar height. The front fork tubes have adjustable knobs hinting to the same or more adjustability than the current 390 duke. The key holder sits right below, in front of the tank under the handlebar pivot. There's no instrument cluster on the Enduro, but it seems to have a phone mount in its place. This might have the current Duke 390's handlebar-mounted cluster design.
The tank shrouds extend past the fork. The Enduro features a flatter dirt bike seat that seems a bit narrower than the other bike. It also extends further up the tank than the other bike that was spotted testing. The suspension travel also appears shorter, expected for this variant. This might mean reduced ground clearance, but the new frame and offset rear monoshock should keep it higher than the current 390 Adventure. The Enduro ditches grab rails, hinting at integration into the bodywork or a seat strap. Lastly, the Enduro has a more aggressive, dirt-oriented tyre tread-pattern.
The KTM 390 Adventure sports a taller rally tower-like structure rising from the tank. This mounts the dual-pod headlight setup, freeing the handlebars from extra weight. The headlight pods are flanked by LED DRL strips. The raised section leading to the headlights houses a more vertically positioned and higher instrument cluster, topped by a functional windscreen. The seat has a flatter, wider and a smooth step like design here. Finally, the rear features wider grab rails that stick out further, potentially doubling as luggage mounting points. The 390 Adventure's tyres also have a block pattern, but it seems more dual-purpose and highway-biased.
While these are the two spotted bikes, rumors suggest KTM might have three variants planned. We expect a base SMT trim around ₹ 3.40 lakh, an Enduro trim at ₹ 3.60 lakh, and a top trim potentially reaching ₹ 3.90 lakh. The exact launch date is unclear, but a late-2024 arrival near Diwali is a possibility. Bajaj and KTM might be aiming to capitalise on the festive season. These upcoming KTM ADV bikes will be the most powerful and expensive models in the brand's Indian portfolio. They'll challenge rivals like the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450, Yezdi Adventure, and the BMW G 310 GS.
