Uber For Teens Launched In 37 Cities In India; Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata And More Get The Service

Uber has introduced its Uber for Teens service across India, in a bid to address growing parental concerns about safe transportation options for teenagers in the country. The new programme allows children aged 13-17 to access ride-share services while maintaining parental oversight and enhanced safety features.

The Uber for Teens service has been launched in 37 cities, including major tier I cities like Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Kolkata. This widespread availability makes the service accessible to a significant portion of India's teenage population.

Safety features integrated into the service include GPS tracking that allows parents to monitor their teen's location throughout each ride. Parents receive real-time updates and can follow the journey through their own app. 

An in-app emergency support button provides immediate assistance if needed, and parental controls allow adults to approve rides or monitor their teen's transportation activity.

To use the service, parents or guardians with verified Uber accounts must send an invitation to their teenager. 

After registration, the teen's account is linked to the parent's account, enabling teens to book rides independently while parents receive notifications and tracking information. Parents also have the option to book rides directly for their teenagers.
