Ultraviolette Announces New Production Facility in Tamil Nadu, Targets Annual Production of 2.5 Lakh EVs

Ultraviolette Automotive has announced a major expansion of its manufacturing operations with the unveiling of its new BIGGA (Big Global Ambition) Factory in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. The upcoming production facility will play a crucial role in the company's growth plans, enabling it to manufacture its highly anticipated Tesseract electric scooter and the Shockwave electric dirt bike while significantly increasing overall production capacity. The Government of Tamil Nadu will facilitate the allotment of land for the project.

Located at SIPCOT Industrial Park, Shoolagiri, the new factory will initially have an annual production capacity of 2,50,000 vehicles, with infrastructure designed to scale up to 5,00,000 units per year as demand grows. The facility will operate alongside Ultraviolette's existing manufacturing plant in Bengaluru. The new Ultraviolette manufacturing plant has been planned to support Ultraviolette's future portfolio of electric two-wheelers. The company has confirmed that future products will span multiple segments, including sports motorcycles, crossover bikes, cruisers, street motorcycles, and electric scooters.

The BIGGA Factory is expected to generate approximately 2,000 employment opportunities during its initial phase. As production ramps up over the next five years, the company expects the workforce to expand further, contributing to Tamil Nadu's growing EV manufacturing ecosystem.

Commenting on the announcement, Narayan Subramaniam, Co-founder and CEO of Ultraviolette, said “We are at an inflection point in Ultraviolette’s journey. The BIGGA Factory is a significant step in that direction, giving us the  manufacturing capacity and infrastructure to scale Tesseract and our future products,  while creating the ability to serve a much larger customer base in India and international  markets. Our current facility in Bengaluru, Karnataka will continue its regular operations alongside the BIGGA Factory, strengthening our long-term manufacturing and technology  footprint in India.” 

The BIGGA Factory is being designed as a next-generation manufacturing facility built around Industry 4.0 principles. Ultraviolette plans to integrate advanced digital manufacturing systems, including a Manufacturing Execution System (MES) for real-time production monitoring and vehicle traceability. To ensure every vehicle meets the company's quality and performance standards, the facility will include a dedicated test track where each vehicle will undergo rigorous testing before being dispatched to customers.
