In just two years of production, Ultraviolette has become a reckoner in the electric two-wheeler space. It recently updated its sole offering the F77 and reintroduced it in a new avatar with the suffix Mach 2. With this new product, the Bengaluru-based electric bikemaker now plans to expand its retail presence not just in India, but also on foreign shores, especially in Europe.
Earlier this year, in March, the UV F77 was launched in Turkey and deliveries for the same will begin in the next quarter. Moreover, it has also confirmed that it commenced business in Germany and Spain in the same timeline.
In India, Ultraviolette will expand its retail presence in 20 more cities, and they have already started to on-board dealers in Maharashtra, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Gujrat, Kolkata, and Delhi, confirmed Narayan Subramaniam, CEO & Co-founder, of Ultraviolette Automotive.
These expansion plans will help Ultraviolette Automotive to break even the cash flow by the second half of this financial year. At the same time, it will also continue to invest in research and development and upgrade its technological base. Moreover, via more dealerships, UV has also projected that it will be able to retail 5000 units of the newly launched F77 Mach 2 by this year end. This is a 90 per cent increase from the 500 units it retailed last year with sales predominantly coming from Bengaluru.
The new Ultraviolette F77 Mach 2 has been launched with several new features and performance at a much affordable price starting from ₹2.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Bengaluru), however, this price will apply to the the first 1000 customers only.
The range of the motorcycle has also increased, and the UV F77 Mach 2 Recon variant can now travel up to 323 km (IDC) on a single charge, which is up from 307 km before. Performance has also increased and the mid-mounted electric motor now produces 40 bhp and 100 Nm, which helps it accelerate from 0-60 kmph in just 2.8 seconds, and achieve a top speed of 155 kmph. Additionally, the bike has also gained 10 levels of regen braking, 3 levels of traction control, dynamic stability control, hill-hold assist, TPMS, anti-collision warning, and fall and towing alerts. All of these have further enhanced the premium quotient of the F77, which should help Ultraviolette Automotive attract customers in Europe, which already has a culture for such premium two-wheeler offerings.
