Ultraviolette has raised $21 million in funding from Japan’s TDK Ventures, aiming to expand manufacturing, innovate battery technology, and grow retail presence in India and globally.
Bengaluru-based electric two-wheeler manufacturer Ultraviolette Automotive has successfully raised $21 million in its latest funding round, with strategic participation from TDK Ventures, the corporate venture capital arm of Japan’s TDK Corporation.
This investment reflects the increasing international focus on India’s burgeoning electric mobility sector.
Alongside TDK Ventures, the round saw continued support from Ultraviolette’s existing investors, including Zoho Corporation, Lingotto (formerly Exor Capital), and other institutional backers.
TDK Ventures joins a prestigious group of investors such as Qualcomm Ventures, Speciale Invest, TVS Motor Company, and notable individual investors like Swiggy’s co-founder Sriharsha Majety, Cure Foods’ co-founder Ankit Nagori, TaxiForSure’s co-founder Aprameya Radhakrishna, and actor Dulquer Salmaan.
Founded in 2016 by Narayan Subramaniam and Niraj Rajmohan, Ultraviolette specialises in high-performance electric vehicles that combine advanced engineering with futuristic design.
Its flagship model, the F77 electric motorcycle, has received European certification and is currently sold in 10 European countries, making it the first Indian electric two-wheeler to enter the European market under type approval regulations.
With the fresh capital infusion, Ultraviolette plans to enhance its manufacturing capabilities, accelerate innovation in battery and vehicle technologies, and expand its retail footprint across India from 20 cities to over 100 in the near future. The company also aims to strengthen its presence in global markets.
The collaboration with TDK Ventures is expected to boost Ultraviolette’s efforts in developing next-generation electric mobility platforms, particularly in battery systems and intelligent vehicle technologies.
TDK Ventures, which recently set up an Innovation Hub in Bengaluru, focuses on deep-tech startups addressing energy, mobility, and sustainability challenges.
This partnership aligns with TDK Ventures’ claimed mission to promote sustainable transportation solutions, leveraging its technological expertise to support Ultraviolette’s global ambitions.
