The Indian smartphone market witnessed a 15% growth in Q1 2024, as per the latest report by Canalys. Another report courtesy of the IDC Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker stated that the worldwide shipment of smartphones went up by 7.8%, with Samsung regaining the lead. As the smartphone market stabilizes, brands are leaving no stone unturned, as April alone saw over 18 new smartphone launches in India. In May 2024, that number is expected to go north, with more mid-range and premium flagship phones being unveiled. Vivo V30e

The Vivo V30e is all set to launch on May 2 in India. It is a mid-range offering from Vivo in its V30 lineup and will join the V30 and V30 Pro that launched earlier in March, becoming the first non-flagship phones to get Zeiss Optics. The design of the V30e has officially been teased ahead of its official launch, and it measures just 7.6 mm thick. We also know that the V30e is powered by a 5,500mAh battery and will be offered in two different colours: Velvet Red and Silk Blue. It also features a 3D curved display with a 50-megapixel primary camera that uses a Sony IMX882 sensor. The phone also has an Aura Light with smart colour temperature adjustment and a 2x portrait mode. In addition, Vivo has confirmed the V30e has a 50-megapixel selfie camera with eye autofocus.

Pixel 8a

The Pixel 8a has been leaked ahead of its likely debut at Google I/O on May 12. It is expected to feature a 6.1-inch OLED display and be powered by the Tensor G3 SoC paired with up to 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. It also seems like the Pixel 8a will retain the 64-megapixel+8-megapixel ultrawide camera setup from the Pixel 7a, including the 13-megapixel selfie camera. The Pixel 8a is expected to get a slightly bigger battery, rated at 4500mAh.

OnePlus Nord 4

The OnePlus Nord 4 is expected to launch sometime in May. Its features include a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 1.5K resolution. It is rumoured to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 chipset and will likely be paired with up to 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. It will likely have a 50-megapixel primary camera paired with an 8-megapixel ultrawide sensor. The phone is also rumoured to have a 5500mAh battery that supports 100W fast charging. 

Poco F6

The Poco F6 will likely be unveiled later this month and is expected to feature a 6.6-inch AMOLED 120Hz refresh rate display with 1.5K resolution. It features a 50-megapixel primary camera, an 8-megapixel ultrawide camera and a 20MP selfie camera. The Poco F6 is rumoured to be powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 SoC and has a 5500mAh battery that supports 120W fast charging. 

Vivo X Fold 3

Vivo X Fold 3 has recently been spotted making rounds of Indian certification websites, indicating its impending launch. It will be Vivo’s first foldable launch in India. It will offer a premium flagship experience that goes up against the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5, OnePlus Open, and more. The Vivo X Fold 3 is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and features a large 8-inch foldable display and a 6.5-inch outer screen. The cameras are backed by Zeiss optics, including a 50-megapixel primary camera, a 64-megapixel telephoto camera and a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera.

Samsung Galaxy F55

The Samsung Galaxy F55 is also expected to be announced this month in India. It is rumoured to be Samsung’s first phone with a faux leather design and features such as a 6.7-inch AMOLED 120Hz display, a 50-megapixel primary camera with OIS, and a 5000mAh battery. The Galaxy F55 could be powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 and will likely offer 25W charging speeds.
