Keeping a bike under wraps before an official launch is getting tougher for manufacturers in this digital world. The latest victim is Royal Enfield, as what seems to be the product presentation of the upcoming Interceptor Bear 650 with Mark Wells, Chief of Design at Royal Enfield, has been leaked prior to the official unveil. The Interceptor Bear 650 as the name suggests is based on the Interceptor 650 and is more of a variant than an all-new bike.
The new Royal Enfield motorcycle is more of a scrambler version of the Interceptor and has undergone some visual modifications. First up are the eye-popping colour shade we can see in the presentation video, blue seats with white piping and the revised centre panel design. The other big visual change is the tail section as it features a round tail light which sits well with the scrambler DNA.
Unlike the Interceptor 650, which sports twin exhaust mufflers, the Interceptor Bear 650 features a smaller single exhaust muffler, which not only looks cool but will also be much lighter than the twin exhaust pipes. The engine gets an all-black treatment. An interesting addition is the single-pod instrument cluster similar to that of the Himalayan 450. This means the Interceptor Bear 650 will be the first 650 cc offering from Royal Enfield to feature an all-digital instrument console.

The Interceptor Bear 650 will be powered by the same 650 cc, parallel-twin engine as seen on other 650 cc bikes in RE’s portfolio delivering 47 bhp and 52.3 Nm. We hope Royal Enfield engineers have changed the tune of the motor to better suit the scrambler characteristic of the bike. The chassis too seems to be tweaked a bit as it now sits on USD fork and a revised twin shock absorber setup, hopefully, these new suspension units would improve the ride quality of the bike. Even the tyres have a slight off-road pattern to suit the scrambler nature of the bike.
The upcoming Royal Enfield Interceptor Bear 650 might make its global debut at the 2024 EICMA motorcycle show next month and it might be launched at the same event. As for pricing, we expect it to be around ₹3.40-3.55 lakh (ex-showroom).
