This means that the Continental GT 650 and the upcoming GT-R 750 cafe racers will co-exist.
While Royal Enfield created a lot of buzz at the 2025 EICMA motorcycle show in Italy by unveiling the Continental GT-R 750, it seems there’s more than meets the eye. According to reports, Royal Enfield will not be discontinuing the Continental GT650 when the 750 cc cafe racer makes its debut later this year. In fact, the company is planning to upgrade the Continental 650 to stay relevant in the market. The cafe racer is expected to get updated instrumentation (read: a TFT console) as seen on the Himalayan 450.
Apart from this, the updated Continental 650 might get marginal cosmetic upgrades with new graphics and colours being introduced as part of the refresh. The suspension hardware has been a weak link for this cafe racer and we hope RE engineers upgrade it too. On the mechanical side, this bike will be powered by the same 650 cc, twin-cylinder engine as seen on the current bike churning out 47 bhp and 52 Nm of peak torque.

This could be a strategy to keep the bike relevant for the European market so that it qualifies for the A2 license. The other aspect could be pricing; an updated Continental 650 indicates that the Continental GT-R 750 might be positioned as a more premium and niche product in the company's portfolio. With the revised GST regime taking a toll on bikes above 350 cc, the 650 cc cafe racer would be positioned as a more affordable offering in comparison to the flagship cafe racer.
As for pricing, the current Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 retails for between ₹3.52-3.82 lakh (ex-showroom) and we expect the updated bike to carry a premium of around ₹5,000-8,000 over it. This also leads us to suspect that the Royal Enfield Continental GT-R 750 could be priced closer to ₹4 lakh (ex-showroom).
