Yes, this is one of the most expensive Vespa scooters to ever sell in India.
Vespa has decided to bring another collector’s edition scooter to India, called the Vespa 946 Dragon. Vespa’s unique creation is meant to celebrate the Chinese Lunar New Year, which happens earlier in the calendar year. This scooter was showcased globally for quite some time and in India, it can now be availed at a whopping ₹ 14.28 lakh (ex-showroom).
Yep, you read that right: ₹14.28 lakh for a 150 cc scooter with a custom paint scheme that is globally limited to just 1,888 units, so only a few will make it to India. Earlier the brand had launched the Vespa Justin Bieber Limited Edition which was based on the Vespa Sprint 150 and was priced at ₹6.45 lakh (ex-showroom).
As for the latest collector's edition Vespa, it is based on the Vespa 946, albeit with an exclusive paint job that includes a light gold colour with the graphics of a dragon in emerald green on the front apron beneath the headlight, that stretches up to the side panels at the rear.
Just like the standard scooter, even the special edition model is available with the option of either a 125 cc engine or a 155 cc engine in the global market, but here it will be available with the 155 cc mill only that is good for 11.6 bhp and 10.7 Nm.
The underpinnings have also remained untouched. So it continues to be built around the same steel monocoque frame suspended by a single-arm shock absorber at the front and a preload adjustable shock absorber at the rear. Braking duties are carried out by a single 220 mm disc fitted to both front and rear 12-inch sized wheels.
Bookings for this newly launched Vespa 946 Dragon have commenced across all Motoplex showrooms in India. Buyers of this limited edition Vespa will also stand to gain an exclusive Varsity jacket made out of Nappa leather and with the same dragon motif printed on the back and shoulder of the jacket.
Moreover, at ₹14.28 lakh, there are so many better motorcycles. From the Ducati Monster+ to the Triumph Tiger 900 GT, Kawasaki ZX-6R and so much more. But if you really want a scooter, there’s the BMW C400 GT as well, which not just looks futuristic, but also packs quite the punch in terms of performance. So what will you do?
