One of its multiple planned projects, Vinhomes Smart City, spread across 1,080 hectares, is expected to create nearly 10,000 jobs in Telangana.
Vietnam’s largest privately held conglomerate VinGroup, which started its India journey with its EV business a few months ago, plans to have a multi-sectoral presence in India. Acko Drive broke this news on Monday. VinGroup today announced the signing of an MoU with the Telangana Government, which envisages a cumulative investment of $3 billion.
The first of the new ventures will be the launch of its taxi fleet business, Green and Smart Mobility (GSM) in February 2026. As part of its electric mobility vision, Vingroup has announced its plans to introduce India’s first large-scale electric taxi fleet and a mobility-as-a-service platform through GSM, deploying VinFast electric vehicles across Telangana. The Vietnamese EV manufacturer may also explore opportunities related to future EV manufacturing initiatives.
This new initiative aligns with Telangana’s broader goals of developing sustainable transport solutions and reducing urban emissions. A key component of the investment includes the proposed development of the Vinhomes Smart City project, a mega urban area spread across 1,080 hectares.
Designed to accommodate approximately 200,000 residents, the futuristic township will feature a balanced mix of low-rise and high-rise developments, international-standard amenities, and sustainability-led planning principles. The project is expected to create nearly 10,000 jobs and reinforce Telangana’s position as a hub for modern urban transformation.
Vingroup also plans to bolster Telangana’s social infrastructure through the development of a 70-hectare integrated ecosystem comprising Vinschool’s K–12 education system, Vinmec international multi-specialty hospitals, and the V-Green charging network. In the tourism sector, the Group intends to establish a large-scale recreation complex through VinWonders—including a theme park, zoo, and safari—across 350 hectares. This initiative will not only enhance the state’s tourism profile but also generate substantial employment opportunities.
Reaffirming its commitment to sustainability, Vingroup, through VinEnergo, has proposed to invest in a 500 MW solar farm covering approximately 500 hectares. This project aims to supply reliable green energy to urban zones, industrial clusters, and the entire electric mobility ecosystem. Additionally, the Group may participate in developing strategic connectivity infrastructure to strengthen regional linkages and support holistic urban development.
The Telangana government has committed to facilitating land acquisition, supporting planning and approvals, and ensuring coordination across agencies. Speaking on the partnership, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy described the investment as “a massive vote of confidence in the ‘Telangana Rising’ vision.” Other state leaders echoed this sentiment, highlighting the transformative potential of Vingroup’s multi-sectoral commitments.
