The price hike has been attributed to rising input and material costs.
Volkswagen has announced that it will hike prices by up to two per cent across the model range, effective from January 1, 2024. The German carmaker has said the prices have been hiked due to increasing input and material costs.

The brand has also said while it will absorb most of the increasing input costs, some of it will be passed on to the consumers as well. Currently, the brand only has three products in its portfolio – the Virtus, the Taigun and the Tiguan.
Volkswagen joins a whole list of manufacturers who have announced a price increase from January 1, 2024. All of them attribute this price hike to rising input and operational costs.

Recently, Volkswagen introduced the Sound Editions of the Virtus and Taigun, priced between ₹15.51 lakh and ₹17.90 lakh (ex-showroom, India). Both get power-adjustable front seats, puddle lamps and ambient lighting. However, the biggest update is the addition of a subwoofer, amplifier and a specifically-tuned audio system. The Sound Editions are available in four colours and only with the 1.0-litre TSI engine mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
