The ID. One will be the cheapest EV from the carmaker.
Thomas Schäfer, CEO of the Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand, has announced that an entry level EV, ID. One, in the concept form will make its global debut in March this year. The price will be about €20,000 (approximately 18.18 lakh). The production version of the car is expected to be revealed in 2027. Schäfer said: “An affordable, high-quality, profitable electric Volkswagen from Europe for Europe. This is the Champions League of automobile manufacturing.”
We get to see the front view of what to expect from the concept car thanks to the teaser. It’s cute for sure, and very city oriented. We still don’t know the dimensions of the EV but expect it to be very compact. The ID. One will be based on a modified version of the MEB platform, and this will also underpin the ID. 2all.

We wait to know more about the car as details for now are scarce but we understand the reason why VW is betting big on the ID family. Since the launch of the ID. product family in 2019, the brand has sold more than 1.35 million ID. vehicles throughout the world, including about 500,000 ID.3. Last year, the Volkswagen brand sold 383,100 all-electric vehicles.
In India, we wait to see the first EV from the company and from what we know, it could happen soon. But will the ID. One make it here? We sure hope so.
