From a larger instrument cluster to a panoramic sunroof, here’s what’s new in the 2026 Volkswagen Taigun facelift.
Volkswagen has unveiled a mid-cycle facelift of the Taigun. Prices of the updated compact SUV are expected to be announced in the coming weeks. Till then, the German carmaker has revealed the 2026 Taigun facelift in its entirety. The new Taigun mostly gets features and some minor cosmetic updates along with notable mechanical changes. Let us check out the differences between the old and the new Volkswagen Taigun.
In the facelifted Taigun, the fog lamps have been moved from the bumper and repositioned into the headlight clusters. These updated headlights feature multi-angled lighting elements along with auto-levelling function, and are said to enhance visibility while cornering as well as in adverse weather conditions. Volkswagen has also put in place a new, sleeker grille headlined by a full-width LED strip along with an illuminated VW badge.
The Volkswagen Taigun facelift is available in eight exterior colour options, including two new additions — Steel Grey and Avocado Pearl. Alongside these, the SUV continues to be offered in existing shades such as Carbon Steel, Carbon Steel Matte, Reflex Silver, Wild Cherry Red, Lava Blue, Candy White, and Deep Black.
Volkswagen has added front parking sensors to the Taigun facelift for an added layer of safety. However, rear parking sensors come as standard across the range, while front sensors are introduced starting from the one-above-base Highline variant.

The pre-facelift Taigun came with a single-pane sunroof which continues to be offered in the mid-spec Highline Plus and GT Line trims. Volkswagen has thrown in a panoramic sunroof to the package which is offered in the higher-spec Topline and both the Sport and Chrome variants of the GT Plus trim.

The 2026 Volkswagen Taigun gets an updated 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system that now comes with 15 pre-installed apps, including YouTube, Spotify and Vivaldi Browser. However, the bigger highlight is Google's cloud-based AI assistant.
The Volkswagen Taigun facelift comes with a larger 10.25-inch digital driver’s display. The new cluster offers an integrated turn-by-turn navigation. In addition, there are four switchable themes on offer.

The biggest and the only mechanical update is the addition of a new 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission that made its debut in the facelifted Skoda Kushaq earlier this year. This new gearbox is only available with the 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine. The new transmission is expected to offer smoother shifts under both acceleration and deceleration. It is also claimed to improve fuel efficiency by 1.39 kmpl over the outgoing 6-speed automatic.
