Volkswagen claims to have built around 143,000 units of the Taigun in India till date, with 30 percent of the volume contributing towards exports.

Volkswagen has confirmed that it will launch the facelifted Taigun on 9 April 2026. This will be the first significant update to the Taigun ever since it made its debut in late 2021. Test mules of the updated SUV have been spotted on multiple occasions in recent times. Ahead of its launch later this week, the German carmaker has revealed the production-ready Taigun facelift.

Škoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited (SAVWIPL) has started the production of the new Taigun at its state-of-the-art plant in Pune. The company said the model supports its broader “Make in India, for India and the world” strategy, with a strong emphasis on localisation, manufacturing quality and customer-focused product development.

Commenting on the development, Piyush Arora, Managing Director & CEO, Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited, said, “The start of production of the new Volkswagen Taigun underscores the maturity of our world-class manufacturing ecosystem in India. Our Indian manufacturing facilities are geared to deliver global-quality vehicles with high levels of localization, enabling us to respond quickly to what customers demand in India and in export markets.”
