Xiaomi is preparing to unveil its latest flagship smartphones, the Xiaomi 15 and 15 Pro, at a major launch event in China today (October 29). The announcement comes exactly one year after the debut of the flagship Xiaomi 14 series.
The launch event is scheduled for 7 PM local time in China/4:30 PM IST, with the global release dates yet to be announced by the company.
In a notable development, the handset maker's CEO Lei Jun has confirmed that the new series will be announced at higher prices than its predecessors, citing increased component costs and substantial R&D investments.
According to leaks and rumours, the base Xiaomi 15 model with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage could start at CNY 4,599 (approximately $630), while the top-tier 16GB/1TB variant might reach CNY 5,499 (around $750).
The premium Xiaomi 15 Pro is expected to be priced between CNY 5,299 and CNY 6,499, depending on the configuration. A special Satellite Communication Edition could retail at CNY 6,999.
Recent regulatory certifications have revealed that the Xiaomi 15 Pro will support 90W wired fast charging, with wireless charging capabilities also expected. The device will use a power adapter with model number MDY-14-EC.
Design-wise, both models feature a sophisticated aesthetic with a centre-aligned punch-hole display and quad micro-curved edges. The devices sport a minimalist boxy design with rounded corners for enhanced ergonomics. A distinctive square camera module, developed in partnership with Leica, dominates the upper left corner of the rear panel.
The new flagship series will use an advanced 3nm processor, promising significant performance improvements over its predecessor. Additional specifications and features will be revealed during the launch event.
