The ₹62 lakh Xiaomi SU7 Ultra is faster around the Nürburgring than a ₹18 crore Rimac Nevera. Let that sink in!
The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra has snatched the crown as the fastest four-door electric vehicle (EV) at Germany’s Nürburgring, clocking a blistering 7:04.957 lap time.
The SU7 Ultra not only outpaced its rivals like the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT, but also the much more expensive Rimac Nevera hyper car. This feat marks the first time a Chinese EV has claimed such a prestigious title.
In October 2024, a special prototype of this car with a stripped-down interior, roll cage, and slick tyres, was driven by test driver David Pittard. That unit achieved a Nürburgring lap time of 6:46.874 seconds! Its 1,526 bhp and lightweight carbon fibre body, weighing just 1,900 kg, powered it to a top speed of 338 km/h.
Xiaomi’s venture into automotive glory isn’t just about speed. The SU7 Ultra features a 1,327 kW tri-motor setup and a 150 kWh battery, delivering a 0-100km/h sprint in 1.97 seconds.
The SU7 Ultra has a 16C maximum discharge rate. Under China’s Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle, it achieves a 630 km range on a full charge. The car’s tech roots shine through, with Xiaomi’s HyperOS managing its systems.
This victory signals China’s growing clout in the EV world. Xiaomi, known for smartphones, is now challenging European giants on their home turf.
In fact, prior to dominating the Nürburgring, Xiaomi’s SU7 Ultra had been collecting awards on Chinese tracks as well.
It claimed the title of fastest four-door production car at key circuits, including Chengdu’s Tianfu, Zhuzhou International, Zhuhai International, and Zhejiang International Circuits.
