Xiaomi has indicated that the YU7 is slated for a China launch between June and July 2025.
Following the success of the SU7 Ultra sedan, Xiaomi is preparing to expand its automotive lineup with the upcoming Xiaomi YU7 SUV. CEO Lei Jun recently shared images of the vehicle in natural lighting, providing the first public look at the SUV outside of a controlled exhibition space.
The YU7 carries Xiaomi’s distinctive design language, featuring a front fascia reminiscent of the SU7 but with a more rounded structure. The headlight design and a continuous lighting element further reinforce its resemblance to its sedan counterpart. A LiDAR sensor is mounted on the roof’s edge, indicating that the YU7 will incorporate advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), similar to the SU7. One of the key highlights is the option for customization, with Xiaomi offering 26 different wheel designs, including turbofan-inspired wheels seen on the prototype.
The Xiaomi YU7 measures 4,999 mm in length, 1,996 mm in width, and 1,608 mm in height, with a 3,000 mm wheelbase. These dimensions position it between established models like the BMW X5 (5,060 mm length, 2,004 mm width, 1,776 mm height, 3,105 mm wheelbase) and the Lexus RX (4,890 mm length, 1,920 mm width, 1,695 mm height, 2,850 mm wheelbase). This sizing suggests that Xiaomi is targeting the premium SUV segment.
Similar to the SU7, the YU7 is expected to offer multiple powertrain configurations. The entry-level is a single rear-mounted motor version producing 315 bhp powered by a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack. Then there is also a dual-motor, all-wheel drive variant featuring a 295 bhp front motor and a 386 bhp rear motor, delivering a combined output of 681 bhp. This version will utilise a ternary lithium battery.
Xiaomi has indicated that the YU7 is slated for a China launch between June and July 2025. Pricing is expected to range between 300,000 yuan (approx. ₹35.29 lakh) and 400,000 yuan (approx. ₹47.05 lakh). The company has also outlined plans to expand internationally, with exports expected to begin in 2027.
