These 1980s-inspired faring sets take the Yamaha nostalgia to another level
Yamaha's XSR900 GP, already a head-turner with its classic looks, is getting even hotter with the release of new limited-edition retro fairings that pay homage to Yamaha's iconic 1980s’ race bikes.

These new fairings are designed to evoke the spirit of the RZ500R and FZ400R, two-stroke legends that dominated the racetrack in the 1980s. One option features the RZ500R's instantly recognizable red and white ‘Speedblock’ colour scheme, faithfully capturing the nostalgia of that era. The other fairing set features a triple-tone paint job in red, white, and blue, offering another taste of Yamaha's racing heritage.

Yamaha's iconic 80s race bikes, the RZ500R and FZ400R, were two-stroke screamers that gave you goosebumps with their ear-splitting exhaust notes and blistering performance. The RZ500R, in particular, was a homologation special, a street-legal version of a dominant GP bike, and boasted a liquid-cooled, 500cc engine that cranked out a staggering 69 bhp in its unrestricted form. The FZ400R, while slightly less wild, was no slouch either, packing a 400cc engine that pushed out close to 60 bhp.
These fairings are a perfect way for XSR900 GP owners in Japan to add a touch of classic Yamaha flair to their modern machine. However, there's a catch: reservations are only open between April 19 and May 10, 2024, and the fairings won't be available until September.

The price tag, including tax, is ¥330,000 (approximately ₹1.73 lakh). Alas, if only this was something of an option for the R15 V4. Wouldn’t that be a treat now, eh?
