As we gear up for the launch of the new BMW R 1300 GS here in India, which in all probability is June 13 – new homologated filings have now confirmed the imminent arrival of the R 1300 GS. The filings, which were secured by Motorcycle.com earlier, further reveal that BMW will equip the upcoming R 1300 GS Adventure and the R 1300 GS with its new trademarked Automatic Shift Assist system (ASA).
A clutchless mechanism, that TVS had also launched in India earlier with its commuter motorcycle Jive. However, in a much more sophisticated state in the R 1300 GS duo, BMW’s ASA system will also allow for clutchless operation but with the option to make shifts both manually and automatically.
Aside from this, the homologation also confirms that the powertrain will remain the same. This has always been the case with the GS motorcycles, moreover, the state of tune in the R 1300 GS Adventure will also remain the same 143 bhp and 149 Nm. The filings further reveal that boxer engine will be even more compact in the GS Adventure compared to the regular GS. As a consequence, the wheelbase has shortened and that should improve its ride quality by leaps and bounds, for more agility.
Beyond that, other changes that the BMW R 1300 GS Adventure will be introduced with will largely be on the same lines that we have seen with the R 1250 GS Adventure. This will include longer suspension travel and more rugged panels with additional protections. The swing arm has also been revealed will be beefier for better passenger and luggage support.
BMW is expected to launch the R 1300 GS Adventure in global markets by Novermber with an official showcase in EICMA 2024. And the same can very well arrive in India next year in mid-2025. Currently, we are gearing up for the launch of the BMW R 1300 GS, which is available in three variants. To know more about them, click here.
