Hero claims the Destini 125 has best-in-class fuel efficiency of 59 kmpl.
Hero has taken the wraps off its all-new Destini 125, making it the first of the new scooters that are set to arrive this year. While writing this article, we are still not aware of its price, stay tuned to this space and we shall update it once they’re out soon. Having said that, we expect the new Hero Destini 125 to cost around ₹4,000-₹6,000 more.
Firstly, the Hero Destini 125 is now built on an optimised platform that underpins the Hero Xoom 110, which has led to an increase in wheelbase by 57 mm, and the rake has become sharper. It now also rides on new 12-inch wheels, due to which the suspension tune had to be revised. The Destini 125 Xtec now also gets a new external fuel-filler tank, for added convenience.
As for its looks, it certainly looks a lot more delightful than the outgoing model with hints of inspiration from the brand’s Vida range of scooters, especially with the tail section. The addition of chrome elements give out a vibrant appeal. Carrying forward Hero’s staple design, the Destini 125 now sports H-shaped DRLs, around the new LED headlight and projector setup. The turn indicators are still bulb units, though.
Hero claims that the new Destini 125 Xtec gets the largest seat in the segment, and at 59 km, it is also claimed to be the most frugal option. Speaking of which, the engine has remained the same 124.6 cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that produces the same 9 bhp and 10.4 Nm, and even the kerb weight has remained the same at 115 kg.
On the features front, while the base-spec and mid-spec variant gets the semi-digital instrument cluster, the top-spec gets a fully digital LCD with a negative display, that supports Bluetooth connectivity, along with smartphone connectivity for call/SMS, notification alert, and also for the first time on a 125 cc scooter – turn-by-turn navigation.
Beyond that, the Hero Destini 125 Xtec also gets a few new added safety features starting with the new disc brake on the wheel, available with the mid-spec ZX and top ZX+ trims. It now also gets an engine cut-off feature which cuts off the engine when it detects any crash or fall—making it the first in the 125 cc segment to boast the same.
Lastly, wrapping up this entire package, Hero MotoCorp is offering the new Destini 125 Xtec with five colour options – Eternal White, Regal Black, Mystique Magenta, Cosmic Blue, and Groovy Red. Competition-wise, the new Hero Destini 125 Xtec will have the likes of the Suzuki Access 125, TVS Jupiter 125, and the Honda Active 125 as its competition.
