The new BGauss C12 MaxR is targeted at family buyers with range and storage taking priority.

Pune-based electric two-wheeler maker BGauss has launched the new C12 MaxR electric scooter, priced at ₹1.55 lakh (ex-showroom, with govt. subsidy). The BGauss C12 MaxR is targeted at family buyers, with range and storage taking priority. Bookings for the new C12 MaxR are now open with sales to commence in a few days. The offering is the brand’s flagship electric scooter on sale.

The BGauss C12 MaxR keeps things conventional with its design language. Simpler lines with a projector lens LED headlamp and DRLs give it a familiar look. The profile looks simple, while the rear sports a chunky grab rail and an LED taillight cluster. The rear-view mirrors are finished in chrome for a retro look.

The C12 MaxR gets a 5-inch TFT console that gives access to all the features. There are three riding modes - Eco, Ride, & Sport. It also gets a fallsense, cruise control, reverse mode, service reminder, side-stand cut-off, and more.

Power comes from a 4-in-1 HyperZen side-mounted motor that’s tuned for 5.3 bhp. 0-40 kmph comes up in 5.3 seconds. BGauss says the unit packs four things together, including the motor, gear transmission, motor control unit, and braking. The side-mounted motor is directly connected to the wheel using the gear transmission instead of a chain drive. This helps minimise losses, while keeping the overall hardware compact. The kerb weight on the scooter measures 126 kg. Suspension duties are handled by telescopic forks at the front, while the rear gets a gas-charged 5-step adjustable single shock. Braking comes from a 220 mm front disc and a 130 rear drum brake setup with CBS.

The C12 MaxR packs a 3.8 kWh LFP battery pack promising a range of 178 km (IDC) on a single charge. The battery pack is placed under the floorboard and comes with a 6 kg aluminium enclosure, which helps keep it protected. The pack is IP-67 rated and weighs about 32 kg. The scooter comes with a 750-watt charger rating, which allows the battery to be charged from 0-80 per cent in 3 hours and 50 minutes, while 0-100 per cent will take 5 hours and 15 minutes.

Lastly, the C12 MaxR gets cleverly built-in storage solutions. There’s a bottle holder and a storage space integrated in the front apron. The under-seat storage offers 38 litres of capacity with a compartment for a small umbrella, and a lockable storage space as well.

The new BGauss C12 MaxR will take on the Ather Rizta and Konarc, TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak, Ola S1 Pro, and the like in its segment.
