Jawa has also tweaked the riding posture on the bobber and claims to improve overall refinement levels.
In its pursuit of refreshing its entire model portfolio, Jawa has launched the new 2024 Perak. The dark themed bobber is now priced at ₹2.13 lakh (ex-showroom India), thus making it Rs ₹5000 dearer than before. And while the new bike isn’t significantly different from the outgoing model, it surely does have some new bits that spruce up its appeal.
For starters, the dark brooding nature of the Perak continues. Instead of the dull matte black finish, the bobber now gets stealth matte black/matte grey dual tone finish. This colour treatment is complemented by neat golden touches giving the Perak a more premium look. And the highlight has to be the new brass ‘Perak’ badge on both sides of the tank. There is a bit more badging to be found now, especially on the fuel cap ring as well as the rear fender. A final small aesthetic touch to the new Perak is the presence of clear lenses on the turn indicators.
Jawa has paid heed to the customer feedback and tweaked the riding posture on the Perak, which is the same as the 42 Bobber. So, you now have footpegs that are 155 mm more forward set, the handlebar is raised a bit. The seat remains fixed, though, non-adjustable like the 42 Bobber. Having said that there’s a new quilted seat cover that adds a bit more nostalgic touch to the bike.
Besides these tweaks, the Perak remains the same. The 334 cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine continues to dish out 29 bhp and 30 Nm. The 6-speed gearbox also gets a slip-and-assist clutch for a lighter operation. Jawa claims the motor’s internals have been revised and thereby improving its refinement and overall NVH levels. And just like the new 350, the Perak too now benefits from a more optimised and smaller radiator.
The dual-cradle frame continues to be sprung up by a telescopic fork and preload-adjustable monoshock, the bike continues to roll on 18-/17-inch alloy rims and you get disc brakes at both ends with dual-channel ABS as standard.
Judging by the improvements made on the new Jawa 350, we can expect the new Perak to offer a better riding feel. Hopefully, we get a chance to swing a leg around it sometime soon to bring you all the dope on the bike.
