Slated for an October launch, the upcoming model has been spotted testing on Indian roads.
Maruti Suzuki is all set to introduce the 2024 iteration of its popular sub-four-metre sedan, the Dzire. Slated for an October launch, the upcoming model has been spotted testing on Indian roads, and new, clearer images reveal significant design and feature upgrades. The latest updates suggest that the new Dzire is aiming to bolster its presence in the highly competitive subcompact sedan market. Siddharth had EXCLUSIVELY reported about this in July, and you can read it here.
The 2024 Dzire shares the Heartect platform with the upcoming Swift, a well-established base known for its lightweight yet rigid construction. This platform has contributed to improved safety and handling in Maruti's recent models. However, the new Dzire brings its own identity with a refreshed exterior design, departing from the Swift's sporty aesthetics.

Visually, the 2024 Dzire distinguishes itself from its hatchback sibling. The front fascia has been revamped with a unique six-slat grille, contrasting with the Swift's signature honeycomb pattern. Accompanying the grille are sleeker headlamps featuring horizontal daytime running lights (DRLs), adding a sharper, more contemporary look to the sedan. Redesigned bumpers and a fresh alloy wheel design further enhance the Dzire’s new styling.
At the rear, the updated Dzire sports redesigned taillights and a modified boot design, with hints of a possible light bar—a feature commonly found in more premium segments. The model in the newly revealed images also showcases a distinctive maroon colour, indicating that Maruti Suzuki is preparing to offer the Dzire in new colour schemes.
One of the standout additions for the 2024 Dzire is the inclusion of an electric sunroof. This move appears aimed directly at Indian consumers, for whom the sunroof has become a sought-after feature, even in budget cars. With the addition of this feature, the Dzire is poised to become one of the most affordable sedans in India to offer a sunroof, potentially redefining customer expectations in this segment.
The new Dzire will also no doubt carry over the Swift’s cabin equipment in terms of the 9-inch touchscreen with the SmartPlay Pro+ system. But that would only likely be available on the top-spec ZXI+ variant. Lower variants will likely get the SmartPlay Pro 7-inch treatment as on the hatch. This also means wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, steering-mounted controls, and a wireless charger. Expect the car to also sport a start-stop, and keyless entry. The higher variants will likely also get automatic climate control and an Arkamys sound system. On safety too the car is expected to get a massive step up. Besides getting ESC, the 6-airbags treatment and ISOFIX child seat anchors, it is also expected to have a sturdier build – all as standard.
Under the hood, the new Dzire is expected to be powered by Maruti Suzuki’s familiar 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder Z-series petrol engine, carried over from the Swift. This engine is known for its balance of efficiency and performance, catering to the practical needs of the Indian market. Transmission options will include both a five-speed manual and a five-speed automated manual transmission (AMT), giving consumers flexibility in driving preferences.
A CNG variant is reportedly on the cards as well. While it remains uncertain if the CNG model will be available at launch, Maruti's recent introduction of the Swift CNG signals that the brand is keen on expanding its alternative fuel options. The CNG variant could appeal to buyers looking for an economical and eco-friendly alternative in the budget sedan space.
