TVS has upped its game but how far behind has it left the segment leader with its recent update?
The TVS Jupiter 110 has undergone significant transformations for 2024, including updates to its engine, design, and features. However, the question remains: how does it fare against the Honda Activa, the eponymous scooter that comes to mind for most Indians? In this blog post, we'll delve into a comparative analysis of the specs of the new TVS Jupiter and the Honda Activa 110 H-Smart.
The 2024 TVS Jupiter 110's engine is slightly larger, and this is reflected in its performance figures. It delivers slightly more punch, with peak power arriving lower in the rev band, making it well-suited for city driving. Additionally, the torque is slightly higher and available at a lower rpm. In contrast, the Honda Activa lacks hybrid assist technology, a feature present in the 2024 TVS Jupiter. Although Honda Activa has an integrated starter generator, it doesn't have an active battery management and supply system to boost performance and improve mileage simultaneously. Both scooters feature an auto start-stop system, which can be toggled on and off using a switch on the right-side switchgear.
Specification | 2024 TVS Jupiter 110 | Honda Activa H-Smart |
---|---|---|
Engine Displacement | 113.3 cc | 109.51 cc |
Power | 7.9 hp @ 6500 rpm | 7.5 bhp @ 8000 rpm |
Torque | 9.2 Nm @ 5000 rpm (without Assist) 9.8 Nm @ 5000 rpm (with Assist) | 8.90 Nm @ 5500 rpm |
Gearbox | CVT | CVT |
The chassis on both scooters is traditional, but TVS engineers claim to have achieved a perfect 50:50 balance, enabling easy slow-speed manoeuvres in city traffic. Both scooters feature similar hardware for their suspension setup. In the wheel department, the Jupiter 110 continues to offer a more stable ride with a 12-inch rear wheel compared to Activa's smaller 10-inch offering. Both scooters offer steel and alloy wheel options, depending on the variant chosen. However, the lack of a disc brake option on the Honda Activa, even on its top-spec H-Smart trim, is a big downer. TVS does offer it on the Jupiter 110 but just like before it is only available on the top version with connectivity features bundled in.

The 2024 Jupiter 110 has increased in length compared to its previous model. While it is longer than the Honda Activa, it boasts a slimmer profile. Both scooters share an identical seat height and have nearly the same amount of ground clearance as well as fuel tank capacities.
Specification | 2024 TVS Jupiter 110 | Honda Activa H-Smart |
---|---|---|
Overall length | 1848 mm | 1833 mm |

The TVS Jupiter 2024 gains an advantage in terms of features, boasting a segmented LCD screen. Although some base variants come with an analogue screen, the Honda Activa H-Smart lacks any digital display features. Instead, the Honda Activa offers keyless usage with the H-Smart key, a proximity key that allows for convenient access but still requires turning a knob instead of using a traditional key.
The lighting solutions on the TVS Jupiter 110 are also more modern, featuring a connected LED strip at the front and a "follow me home" function that keeps the light on for a few seconds after parking. In contrast, the Honda Activa feels somewhat dated in terms of features, as it lacks connected technology that enables users to view scooter data on their phone and receive phone notifications on the scooter.
Prices of the TVS Jupiter 110 start at ₹73,700, while the Honda Activa base model starts at ₹76,684, giving the TVS Jupiter 110 a clear advantage of ₹2,984. Additionally, the TVS Jupiter 110 offers basic hybrid tech right from the base model. Here’s a detailed variant-wise price listing of the two:
Old Model Name | Old Prices | New Model Name | New Prices | Difference |
---|---|---|---|---|
Base | ₹78,238 | Drum | ₹73,700 | ₹4,538 |
ZX | ₹83,023 | Drum Alloy | ₹79,200 | ₹3,823 |
ZX Drum SmartXonnect | ₹85,358 | Drum Alloy SXC | ₹83,250 | ₹2,108 |
ZX Disc SmartXonnect | ₹89,913 | Disc SXC | ₹87,250 | ₹2,663 |
On paper, the Jupiter 110 continues to be the more solid and well-packaged scooter of the two. Better performance, more convenience features and improved tech do make a more compelling case for the same. And the lower asking price for the base model does make the deal better. Dethroning the Activa is a hard task, though. And it would be a big boost for TVS if the Jupiter 110 does manage it.
