Ultraviolette Automotive has delivered 183 units of the new X-47 Skyforce electric motorcycle to the Kolkata Police, marking one of the largest deployments of electric motorcycles by an Indian police force. The Bengaluru-based EV manufacturer has also introduced a dedicated police-spec variant, developed specifically for law enforcement duties. The official handover ceremony took place at the historic Lalbazar Police Headquarters in Kolkata on September 18, 2026. With this deployment, Ultraviolette became the first electric two-wheeler manufacturer to have its motorcycles inducted into the Kolkata Police fleet.
The newly introduced Ultraviolette X-47 Skyforce has been engineered exclusively for police operations. Based on the company's X-47 crossover electric motorcycle, the Skyforce variant features an upgraded electronic architecture that supports a wide range of integrated law enforcement equipment. These include: Sirens and hooters, Public Address (PA) system, LED warning blinkers, Police decals, walkie-talkie and microphone holders and side panniers for carrying operational equipment.

Commenting on the launch, Narayan Subramaniam, CEO & Co-founder of Ultraviolette, said: “It gives us great honour to launch a new variant- X-47 ‘Skyforce’; a purpose developed tactical machine for the police forces. This is a landmark moment for Ultraviolette, as we become the first electric two-wheeler manufacturer by scale to have our motorcycles inducted into the police force. Beyond the significance of this milestone, we take immense pride in knowing that our technology will now contribute to the everyday duties of police officers who work tirelessly to maintain law and order and keep our cities safe. We thank the Kolkata Police for placing their trust in Ultraviolette and look forward to supporting its officers with mobility that is not only futuristic, but purpose-built for duty.”

The company says the motorcycles have undergone extensive testing before being handed over, ensuring they are ready for demanding day-to-day policing duties. Despite being purpose-built for police use, the X-47 Skyforce retains the performance credentials of Ultraviolette's electric platform. The electric ADV motorcycle boasts 211 km of IDC range, 36 bhp of power and a top speed of 145 kmph will ensure that fugitives wouldn't be able to outrun the Kolkata police personnel.
