Yamaha India will showcase a new ADV bike for the Indian market at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, which commences from tomorrow. The new bike is the Yamaha Lander XTZ 250 off-road bike that is currently sold in the Brazilian market. Many years back an older version of the Yamaha Lander 250 was spotted testing on Indian roads but then there was no further action from the Japanese brand.
The Lander 250 does make sense for the Indian market as it’s powered by the same 249 cc, single-cylinder engine as seen on the Yamaha FZ25, a bike which was manufactured in India. This will allow Yamaha to keep costs under check for our market. The motor is good enough for 20.5 bhp and 20.6 Nm. The Lander 250’s styling has undergone a drastic change and the ADV looks modern and purposeful. More than a typical ADV, the Yamaha Lander 250 is closer to a dual-sport bike which makes it a unique proposition.
It has the right hardware too as the telescopic fork has 220 mm of travel whereas the monoshock boasts 204 mm of travel. The bike is also running on dual purpose tyres but the front rubber is pretty slim at 80 mm. The Lander 250 might have good off-road prowess but it faces one tall challenge in the Indian context and that’s its towering 875 mm seat height. With respect to features, the Yamaha off-road bike is pretty basic with a LCD instrument console and 12V charging port. The FZ25 was discontinued owing to poor sales and the Lander 250 will not only help the brand re-enter the 250 cc segment but also help it kick start its ADV journey in the Indian market and it will rival the Hero XPulse 210.
