TVS’ upcoming adventure bike has a strong chance of breaking cover this year at the Auto Expo.
TVS ended 2024 on a nice surprising note when it unveiled a brand-new engine called RTX-D4, at its annual bike festival MotoSoul 2024. This new mill will power several new TVS bikes in the future, the initial examples of which are expected to be showcased at the upcoming expo. But beyond that TVS will also have several other models on display, and here’s what you should expect from the marque to showcase at Bharat Mandapam from January 17-22:
TVS’s debut adventure bike has been much anticipated for quite some time now. What was first presumed would be a rebadged version of the BMW G 310 GS has come a long way, and TVS will completely indigenously develop it. Slated to be called the TVS Apache RTX 300, the RTX-D4 will power the brand’s debut adv bike, its new 299 cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that TVS unveiled last year. This engine produces 34 bhp and 28.5 Nm, comes paired with a 6-speed gearbox, and gets ride-by-wire throttle control, thus indicating that there will be ride modes on offer and maybe cruise control too.
The bike has been spotted several times on Indian roads, being tested in full camouflage. Going by these initial images, we expect the upcoming TVS adventure bike to be more road-biased, if not hardcore. As for its design, it will look sporty and with a hint of premiumness as well. But how good it will be will be revealed at the upcoming expo.
TVS’ most sophisticated, and radical-looking scooter as of yet, the X, debuted way back in 2023. Its asking price was also unveiled back then and at ₹2.50 lakh, it is one of the most expensive scooters from the brand too. Built on BMW’s Xleton frame made out of aluminium that also underpins the CE 02. The TVS X deviates from the monkey bike with a design that is heavily inspired by the Creon concept.
It gets a massive 10.2-inch TFT screen that supports numerous connectivity features, including on-board Google map and much more – the X helps set the bar for the manufacturer here. However, deliveries for the X are yet to commence, and we might finally see that change with TVS announcing its official arrival in the country at the upcoming auto show.
Bajaj shook the commuter two-wheeler market last year when it launched the Freedom 125, the world’s first CNG motorcycle. Taking a leaf out of its competitor's development, TVS later announced last year, that it will look to replicate the same technology but in a scooter body style. While TVS has remained very tight-lipped about its upcoming CNG scooter, barely revealing any information. All of that might change, wherein TVS might just end up showcasing the concept version of this upcoming model at the expo. Post that, we’ll get to know when the scooter will launch and can make an educated guess about its asking price as well.
TVS has been showcasing bikes that can run on 100 per cent ethanol fuel for quite some time now. In fact, the Hosur-based manufacturer was even the first to officially launch an ethanol-based motorcycle — the TVS Apache RTR 200 Fi E100 – back in 2019, but it never went on sale and how could it, when E100 itself isn’t available in the country. The same is expected to repeat at this year’s auto expo as well, along with some new models in the mix as well.
