Hyundai’s endeavour to make cars safer has really paid off, with many features now standard across the entire range.
Hyundai is the winner for Safety Tech of the Year at the 2024 Acko Drive Awards, for its efforts to make safety features available in multiple models at all price points. Many features are now standard across the entire lineup, including six airbags, seatbelts for all seats with reminders, stability control, ABS with EBD, and reverse parking cameras.
Moreover, the 2023 Verna has pushed the envelope of safety tech for a sedan in the sub-Rs. 25 lakh category, and has earned a 5 star global NCAP crash test rating. It's also only the second car in its segment to feature ADAS, and the first one with radar-based Level 2 ADAS. Apart from this, the car comes loaded with the expected six airbags, ABS, ESC, and ISOFIX on the rear seats.
Notably, the Made-in-India Verna is the first car from the South Korean giant to also get a 5-star rating in India. It underwent a voluntary test with impressive scores for adult and child occupant protection. It also did well in side-impact tests, thanks to its curtain airbags.
At the time, Alejandro Furas, General Secretary of the Global NCAP said, ”The vehicle has a lot of technologies and safety systems, for example six airbags which are fitted as standard. And that means a huge jump forward for the manufacturer in order to offer the Indian consumers basic safety, as in other markets.”
Apart from these safety features, the 2023 Verna is loaded with tech features such as its infotainment screen and Bose audio system. It also has a powerful powertrain mated to a dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
