The new Honda Shine 100 brings along an updated OBD2 compliant engine, new features and 5 paint schemes to spice up the segment.
Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) launched its most affordable and fuel-efficient commuter motorcycle, the all new Honda Shine 100 in India at an introductory price of Rs. 64,900 (ex-showroom). With this, one of India’s largest two-wheeler maker enters the highly competitive 100 cc commuter segment rivalling the likes of Hero Splendor Plus and Bajaj Platina 100. The new Honda Shine 100 brings along an updated OBD2 compliant engine, new features and 5 paint schemes to spice up the segment. Targeted at the rural and semi-urban markets, the new Honda Shine 100 offers a special 6-year warranty package.
Atsushi Ogata, Managing Director, President & CEO, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India said, “Shine 100 is Honda’s next big leap to make mobility more accessible and affordable for people across India. We are proud to present a robust, reliable, and fuel-efficient motorcycle for customers in the basic commuter category.”
At the heart of Honda Shine 100 is an all-new 100 cc OBD2 compliant PGM-FI engine, paired with idle start/stop function to enhance fuel efficiency. The company says that the new engine develops 7.50 bhp and 8.05 Nm from its 99.7 cc motor, paired to a 4-speed gearbox. The Honda Shine 100 also features a fuel pump located outside of the fuel tank for easier maintenance and a choke system to aid in starting the bike in various weather conditions.
The new Honda Shine 100 features a 677 mm seat, ideal for both rider and passenger on long-distance rides. The company says that the uniquely designed tank and narrow leg opening angle provide an excellent knee grip, making it an ideal choice for family or utility-based rides.
Moreover, the Honda Shine 100 is built on a lightweight and durable steel frame that contributes to a lower overall vehicle weight, providing a soft steering feel. It is also suitable for variable road conditions, supports carrying loads, and its small turning radius of 1900 mm, which is class-leading in this segment, makes it easy to handle on narrow roads while its excellent gradeability allows it to climb inclines with ease, even while carrying heavy loads.
The design of the Honda Shine 100 is inspired by the elder Honda Shine 125, featuring an appealing front cowl, all-black alloy wheels, a practical aluminium grab rail, a bold tail lamp, and a sleek muffler that compliments its smooth style and overall graphic theme.
