Ampere had shown the NXG concept at Auto Expo 2023
Test mules of the Ampere NXG electric scooter have been spotted on the road. This suggests that Ampere Electric is getting ready to bring it to the public in the next couple of months. The Ampere NXG featured at the 2023 Auto Expo and is one of the two electric scooter concepts shown from the company. Positioned as the new premium scooter, the NXG will take its place above the Ampere Primus.
Although the official specifications of the scooter were not revealed, Ampere had claimed that the NXG will feature a mid-mounted electric motor (as is evident in the photos) and a 120 km range, which is highly likely to be its IDC claimed figure.
The NXG showcases a streamlined body, large floorboard, and a broad seat providing ample room for two adults. Ampere has stepped up its game by making the scooter feel a bit more premium than the rest of its other e-scooters. Hence, one can spot a large digital display, LED lights, and flush-fitting pillion pegs on the NXG test mule.
The NXG is suspended on a telescopic fork and a single rear shock. It seems to be rolling on 12-inch alloy wheels at both ends with a front disc brake being the first for its own product.
In terms of competition, the NXG will be entering the market to compete with models such as the Ola S1 Air, Ather 450S, Vida V1, TVS iQube S and the 2024 Bajaj Chetak.
The Ampere NXG electric scooter is set to launch this year, and it is expected to be priced higher than the Primus, which currently stands at ₹ 1.46 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai).
