The new Aprilia RSV4 X ex3ma not only celebrates Max Biaggi’s achievement but uses his input for development too.
Aprilia Racing has been at the forefront of pushing engineering technology to its limits with innovations that are – to put it simply – groundbreaking. And bringing a slice of that technology with a bunch of exotics has been in the form of Aprilia’s X series, which includes the RSV4 X, and the Tuono X, and the genesis of all that started back in 2019 - the RSV4 X Thirty. The latest to join this list of elusiveness is the Aprilia RSV4 X ex3ma.
Limited to only 30 editions, each new Aprilia RS4V X ex3ma will cost €80,000, i.e. ₹79.27 lakh in India. Making it one of the most expensive two-wheelers, it also becomes the one-of-a-kind road-going bike with an aero package, the same as of a MotoGP-spec motorcycle and, in this case, Aprilia’s RS-GP 24.
Therefore, the fairing design is completely different and more exotic now. It’s made out of carbon fibre and was crafted using the same technology by Pan Compositi, which also works on the brand’s MotoGP bike. So besides those massive front wings, cornering wings, and an underwing below the swing arm. The mudguard is also made out of carbon fibre, and the right handlebar gets all racing components from Jetprime. Even the oil coolers are made to racing specifications by Taleo Tecnoracing.
Powering the new RSV4 X ex3ma is the same 65-degree, 1096 cc, V4 engine but it has been fine-tuned by Biaggi to produce 233.19 bhp at an astronomical 13,500 rpm! Peak torque is 131 Nm arrivingat 11,000 rpm. And making this mill all the more intense and engaging is its ECU setting, which Aprilia has kept exactly like the RS-GPs, therefore the calibrations of the wheelie control, traction control, and engine brake control replicates that of a race bike. So just to control that effectively Aprilia is also providing a Yashi laptop with the bike.
The entire package above is nestled around another groundbreaking and authentic of Aprilia – the twin-spar aluminium frame. Suspension setup includes Öhlins FKR USD fork with hydraulic preload, rebound, and compression adjustability option, and Öhlins TTX monoshock with fully adjustable spring pre-load, wheelbase and hydraulic (with dedicated setup) compression and rebound damping.
The Brembo braking component is also directly lifted from racing with the 19x16 radial pump at the front end, GP4 MS billet callipers with Z04 racing pads and 330 mm T Drive brake discs. Yup, you don’t get carbon ceramic brakes sadly, however, you do get carbon fibre rims, which helps reduce the unsprung mass, and the 17-inch wheels are shod with Pirelli SC slick tyres. And lastly, complimenting this entire package is that all black with exposed carbon fibre bits scheme that Aprilia is calling Perla Nera. The livery directly draws inspiration from the RS 250, the icon that won Max Biaggi three consecutive world championship titles. Even the exhaust mufflers have been designed to replicate the 2-stroke units as seen on the iconic race bike.
“Participating in the development of a bike like the RSV4 X ex3ma was like being at the test sessions of a real racing prototype. It’s a bit like pre-season testing, where the technical groundwork for an entire season is laid. Similarly, the dedication on the track has been unwavering, seeking to prepare a motorcycle that provides its fortunate riders with the same sensations as a racing prototype.”, concluded Biaggi.
