Music maestro and Oscar-winning composer A.R. Rahman has become the latest high-profile buyer of the Mahindra XUV 9e, adding further star power to the electric SUV’s growing popularity. Mahindra announced the news via its official social media platforms, revealing that Rahman has opted for the top-spec Pack 3 variant finished in the striking Tango Red colour. Interestingly, Rahman’s association with the XUV 9e goes beyond ownership—he has also composed the car’s interior sounds, including its alerts and notifications, enhancing the sensory experience for drivers and passengers.

Rahman is the second prominent personality to purchase the XUV 9e, following filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, indicating a growing trend among celebrities favouring this premium electric offering from Mahindra. The XUV 9e is currently available in four variants: Pack One, Pack Two, Pack Three Select, and Pack Three, with prices ranging from ₹21.90 lakh to ₹30.50 lakh (ex-showroom, pan-India).

Visually, the XUV 9e features a futuristic design highlighted by a connected LED DRL strip, a coupe-style sloping roofline, flush-fitting door handles, and 19-inch alloy wheels. These design elements contribute to its bold and modern road presence, making it stand out in a competitive EV market.

The top-spec Pack 3 variant purchased by Rahman is equipped with a comprehensive set of premium features. Notable among these are three 12.3-inch digital screens—one each for infotainment, digital instrumentation, and a third dedicated to the co-passenger’s entertainment. The cabin also includes a 6-way powered driver seat with memory function, dual wireless charging pads, and a panoramic glass roof. Audiophiles are likely to appreciate the 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, while an augmented reality-based head-up display adds a tech-forward touch to the driving experience.

On the safety front, the Mahindra XUV 9e doesn’t cut corners. It comes equipped with seven airbags, a 360-degree camera system, front and rear parking sensors, and Level-2 advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), underlining Mahindra’s commitment to occupant protection and driver convenience.
