The new DB12 heralds a new era for Aston Martin as the first of its next-generation sportscars.
Following the global reveal of DB11’s successor, Aston Martin has launched the new DB12 in India at a whopping Rs. 4.59 crore (ex-showroom, India) without customisation options, signalling a quantum leap in character and capability. According to the company, the latest addition to the legendary DB lineage sets out to redefine its category, offering a fusion of exhilarating driving experiences, refined luxury, state-of-the-art technology, and performance. Moreover, Aston Martin asserts that the DB12 isn't just grand; it's the world's first Super Tourer.
According to Aston Martin, the DB12 emerges as the most complete and accomplished model in the company’s history. The chassis is matched with a powerhouse 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine that develops a mammoth 671 bhp and 800 Nm, catapulting from 0-100 kmph in 3.5 seconds via an 8-speed automatic gearbox that allows a top speed of 325 kmph. This represents a 34 per cent increase compared to its predecessor.
The DB12's structural stiffness also comes from the use of bespoke Michelin Pilot Sport 5 S tyres tailored to the exact specifications, as well as the all-new suspension system equipped with advanced adaptive dampers. The Electronic Power Assisted Steering (EPAS) system and Electronic Rear Differential (E-Diff) further enhance control and connectivity.
Safety is paramount, thanks to the Electronic Stability Control (ESC) system, which employs a six-axis inertia measurement setup to anticipate available grip. The DB12 offers drivers a choice of five pre-set driving modes, allowing incremental exploration of grip and traction limits.
The DB12's aluminium structure or torsional stiffness is improved by a 7 per cent increase providing enhanced steering feedback while the adaptive dampers, stiffer anti-roll bars, and tuning of suspension bushings improve driving dynamics. With a constant 13.09:1 ratio rack and variable, speed-sensitive assistance, the EPAS ensures an intuitive, confidence-inspiring driving experience.
The DB12's exterior design comes with a larger front radiator aperture, reshaped splitter, and striking LED headlights with a distinctive Daytime Running Lamp (DRL) signature contributes to its athletic stance. The new Aston Martin Wings badge adorns the nose, while the frameless wing mirrors improve aerodynamics.
The interior of the DB12 has a driver-centric cockpit featuring a high centre console, hand-stitched Bridge of Weir hides, and new quilting patterns on the Alcantara interior. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on the fully integrated multi-screen system offer responsive touch control and retain physical buttons for essential functions. The navigation system features online connectivity, ensuring a smarter, more informative driving experience.
