Audi India launched the Q8 e-tron recently in India
Audi India announced that it has registered a growth of 88 per cent in the first 9 months of 2023, by retailing 5530 units. While that spells good news for Audi, it isn't exactly the best in the luxury segment as that number is far off from the leader of the pack - Mercedes-Benz. Mercedes-Benz had announced that it sold 8,528 units in the first half of calendar year 2023 and from what we now, sales for the company has crossed the 10,000 mark. This basically shows that the company has sold almost twice the number of cars compared to Audi India.
Audi India's big surge in sales comes as a relief to the company as it had been struggling to get moving for the past couple of years. With the introduction of cars like the Q3, Q3 Sportback, Q5 and even the Q8, the company has been able to push sales at the bottom end of the segment right to the top.
The company says that the 'performance and lifestyle cars including the e-tron' witnessed a growth of 42 per cent. This again is a growth that springs from a low base.
Balbir Singh Dhillon, Head, Audi India, said, "Today, one in every four customers is a repeat Audi customer – this tells us that our customers are happy. We are on a growth path - sustainable, profitable business is our strategy and we expect to close the year with high double-digit growth.”
What's really good news for the company is its growth in the pre-owned space. Sales in Audi Approved: Plus grew by 63 per cent. Now the company has not provided any number on the actual sales of vehicles, but it's a space where, Audi India, especially, has been working hard to provide customers easy access to the luxury space.
