While exports grew by a massive 79 per cent, domestic sales improved pretty steadily.
Honda has released the sales performance for the month of August 2024 as the Indian-arm of the Japanese manufacturer dispatched 5,38,852 units altogether. Thus, registering a robust 13 per cent year-on-year (Y-o-Y) growth. This includes domestic sales of 4,91,678 units, which is a 9 per cent Y-o-Y increase, and exports of 47,174 units, which again is a massive 79 per cent compared to the same period last year.
Honda India's year-to-date (YTD) sales from April to August 2024 also reflect this positive trend, with domestic sales reaching 23,45,028 units and exports at 2,29,716 units. Notably, this increase in sales shortly after HMSI achieved the remarkable milestone of selling over 30 lakh units in Madhya Pradesh, which cemented its position as the preferred choice for two-wheeler buyers in the state.
On the other hand, a slew of activities that focus on road safety awareness, conducted by 11 cities across India, including Udaipur, Jorhat, and Thiruvananthapuram further helped the manufacturer to establish itself as a reliable brand in the country. The company also celebrated the 6th anniversary of its Traffic Training Park in Thane, Maharashtra, and organized Road Safety Conventions with school principals in Jaipur and New Delhi.
Honda continued double-digit growth was primarily driven by periodic updates of its existing portfolio and launching new products as well. The brand is actively working on establishing a separate production line for the manufacture of its all-electric Activa that is slated for launch in March 2025. The brand also recently reshuffled its premium bike portfolio, by including its 200 cc motorcycles, the CB200X and the Hornet 2.0, in its BigWing showroom.
