The company will be banking on the updated Classic 350 to boost sales in the coming months.
Royal Enfield announced sales performance for August, 2024 and it wasn’t a great outing for the company. Sales of its motorcycles dipped by 5% as it sold 73,630 units last month in comparison to 77,583 units sold in the corresponding month in 2023. Domestic sales were down by 5% as it dispatched 65,624 units. The trend continued in exports too as Royal Enfield shipped out 8,006 units, a drop of 2%.
While the drop in sales figures is disappointing for the brand, it commenced September by announcing the pricing for the 2024 Classic 350. The updated motorcycle with more features is now ₹2,500 more affordable than its predecessor for the base variant. Royal Enfield will be banking on the new Classic 350 to help revive its sales as the bike is the most popular product in its portfolio.
Speaking about the sales performance, B Govindarajan, CEO, Royal Enfield said, “In the month of August, we launched the 2024 Classic 350, a motorcycle that beautifully carries forward our rich legacy and in striking new colourways. We are gearing up for the festive season and we’re positive that our recently launched motorcycles will resonate with the riding community and we’ll continue to reaffirm our commitment to delivering pure motorcycling experiences.”
Looking ahead, Royal Enfield has many motorcycles in the pipeline ready to be launched. The next motorcycle offering could be the Royal Enfield Interceptor Bear 650, a scrambler variant of the popular 650cc bike. Siddhartha Lal, the bossman of Royal Enfield had mentioned that 2024 is the year of the Classic. We expect the Royal Enfield Classic 650 to make its global debut by the end of this year and it could be launched alongside the RE Classic 350 bobber, likely to be called the Goan Classic 350.
