Maruti Suzuki’s utility vehicles continued to grow steadily, followed by compact and mini-segment cars.
India’s largest four-wheeler manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki, had slightly improved overall sales for February 2025, with total units reaching 1,99,400, which was up from 1,97,471 in the same month last year.
Passenger vehicle sales in the domestic market increased marginally to 1,60,791 units compared to 1,60,271 units in February 2024. However, exports declined, with 25,021 vehicles shipped overseas, down from 28,927 units in the previous year.
Performance varied across different vehicle categories. The mini segment, which includes the Alto and S-Presso models, saw a significant drop to 10,226 units from 14,782 units in February 2024. The compact car range performed better, with sales climbing to 72,942 units last month, from 71,627 units the same month a year before. This segment includes popular models like the Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, Swift, and WagonR.
Utility vehicles continued their strong performance, with sales growing to 65,033 units in February 2025, up from 61,234 units in the corresponding period last year. This category includes the Grand Vitara, Brezza, Ertiga, XL6, and Jimny models.
Sales of the Eeco van fell to 11,493 units from 12,147 units, while the Super Carry light commercial vehicle registered 2,710 units, down from 3,126 units in February 2024.
After a busy Auto Expo 2025, which saw Maruti Suzuki debut its all-electric e-Vitara, the brand also launched new-gen versions of the Dzire and Swift. The latter duo have been lapped up by jurors at the prestigious 2025 Acko Drive Awards. The Swift took home the sub-compact car of the year TOTM, while the Dzire was declared the 2025 sub-compact sedan of the year.
