Hero MotoCorp reported that it cumulatively sold 3,88,068 units of motorcycles and scooters last month, which was 17.15 per cent less than the 4,68,410 units it retailed last year in February. However, on a year-to-date basis, the Indian bikemaker’s sales have grown steadily from 51,31,040 units last financial year, to 53,49,583 units this year already. This marks a 4.26 per cent sales growth that Hero MotoCorp has registered so far.
Out of these total sales, Hero sold 3,52,312 units of motorcycles, and the rest 35,756 units were scooters. While the former registered a year-on-year decline by 19.37 per cent, scooter sales increased by 13.58 per cent last month, against the 31,481 units Hero retailed last year in the same month.
However, things are expected to improve on the domestic front where Hero registered a decline of 19.76 per cent year-on-year sales. The marque has deliveries of four brand new products scheduled to begin. All four – the Hero Xoom 160, Xoom 125R, and the Xtreme 250R and XPulse 210 boast quite the impressive spec sheet. Deliveries for the new duo of motorcycles is slated to start from March 20. The Xtreme 250R will also spearhead Hero’s campaign in European markets, where the marque registered a reassuring growth of 32.91 per cent in export business.
All in all, Hero seems poised at the moment, and the manufacturer is well positioned to cross last year’s sales. This overall growth will pour over to a good start to next year sales as well, which will see Hero enter the market with brand new products.
