HMIL’s sales performance in the domestic market dropped by a bigger margin, to 11.62 per cent on a month-on-month basis.
Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) revealed that it cumulatively retailed 58,727 cars in both domestic and export markets last month. This marks a 10.48 per cent month-on-month decline in total sales compared to the 65,603 units it retailed in January 2025, which in turn was also a 3 per cent month-on-month drop in sales compared to the 67,615 units it retailed in December 2024.
In the domestic market alone, HMIL’s sales dropped by 11.62 per cent wherein the brand retailed 47,727 units last month, compared to the 54,003 units it retailed in January 2025.
The sales have been on a downward trend for Hyundai in general, which the company cites is due to geopolitical challenges. However, the new tax reforms that were presented in the Union Budget 2025 makes the company hopeful that demand for its products in the domestic market will increase in the near future.
On the other hand, HMIL’s export business continues to register a positive growth. After exporting 11,000 units last month, HMIL’s export business grew by 6.8 per cent. “We are witnessing increasing global demand for our Made-in-India products, reflecting Hyundai’s strong acceptance worldwide. By optimizing exports, we will continue to reinforce HMIL’s position as a key export hub for Hyundai Motor Company,” said Tarun Garg, Director and Chief Operating Officer, Hyundai Motor India Limited
