Audi India has sold 3,474 units in the period January–June 2023.
Audi India continued its robust sales performance on the back of strong demand, growth in the luxury car segment, evolving demographics, and favourable economic conditions. The brand sold 3,474 units in the period January–June 2023, registering a growth of 97 per cent compared to 1,765 units sold in the same period last year. The company said that models such as the Audi Q3, Audi Q3 Sportback, Audi Q5, Audi A4, and Audi A6 are seeing strong demand in the Indian premium car market. However, it is important to note that the company has only launched the Q3 Sportback this year, while the other cars mentioned above were launched in 2022.
Balbir Singh Dhillon, Head, Audi India said, “Our performance in the first half of the year, despite supply challenges and rising input costs, has laid the foundation for a successful second half of the year.”
Compared to other premium carmakers such as BMW India, or Mercedes-Benz India that have really fired up on the launches front in the past few years, Audi India is playing it safe by sticking to their 2 launches in a year strategy. Moreover, all the models launched since 2022 are either models or facelifts that were globally revealed a few years back, while its German rivals focus more on newer and fresher products for the Indian market. Currently, Mercedes-Benz India has the widest AMG portfolio in the country, accounting for 8 AMGs.
Audi India also revealed that it will soon launch the new Audi Q8 e-tron in the second half of 2023. At present, the company has Audi e-Tron GT, Audi RS e-Tron GT, Audi e-Tron, and Audi e-Tron Sportback in its electric portfolio. The upcoming Audi Q8 e-tron is the top-of-the-line model in Audi’s electric SUV portfolio with improved aerodynamics, higher charging performance, and battery capacity, which offers a range of up to 600 km.
Moreover, Audi India is also expanding its pre-owned car business, Audi Approved: Plus with current strength of 23 facilities across all major hubs in the country. By the end of 2023, the company will increase this number to 27. According to the company, the used car business has increased by 53 per cent within the first six months of 2023.
