While domestic sales grew for the Indian arm of the Japanese brand, its export business witnessed a slight decline.

Suzuki India has announced a 9% year-over-year increase in total sales for June 2024, with 88,287 units sold compared to 80,737 units in June 2023. The Japanese bikemaker saw significant growth in its domestic market, with sales rising by 13% to 71,086 units from 63,059 units in the previous year.

While domestic sales surged, exports experienced a slight decline, dropping from 17,678 units in June 2023 to 17,201 units in June 2024. Despite this minor setback, Suzuki's overall performance remains strong, with the company reporting a healthy 15% year-on-year growth for the first quarter of the financial year.

This growth in sales has primarily been driven by Suzuki’s portfolio scooter, especially the Access 125, which continues to be one of its bestsellers. The brand also recently dipped its toes in the premium ADV segment by launching the Suzuki V-Strom 800 DE earlier this year. However, when it comes to its motorcycles, Suzuki has not updated the lot for quite some time (aside from the introduction of new colour options a year back). Both the Gixxer duos have started to look a bit dated. While the introduction of V-Strom SX did keep matters afresh, an update would surely help garner more interest.
