According to data from the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), the Thar and the Thar Roxx diesel variant collectively saw a substantial rise in sales, with 8,391 units sold in March 2025, up from 5,920 units in March 2024. The petrol variants also demonstrated impressive growth, with sales increasing to 1,615 units in March 2025 from 547 units in the same month the previous year. This represents year-on-year growth rates of approximately 42% for the diesel variant and an astounding 195% for the petrol variant.

To meet the surging demand, Mahindra has progressively enhanced its production capabilities. In February 2025, the company ramped up production of the Thar and Thar Roxx to over 9,000 units per month, with a production split of 30 per cent for the Thar and 70 per cent for the Thar Roxx.

Despite the increased production, certain variants of the Thar Roxx continue to have extended waiting periods. The base-spec Thar Roxx MX1 variants, available in both petrol-manual and diesel-manual configurations, still command a waiting period of up to 18 months. Conversely, the top-spec Thar Roxx AX7L 4x4 variants have seen a reduction in waiting times, now down to 12 months—a decrease of six months compared to previous periods.
