SUVs continue to contribute the maximum business for Hyundai in India.
Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has reported declining sales performance for November 2024. The brand cumulatively sold 61,252 units in both domestic and export markets last month, which was 6.9 per cent less than the 65,801 units it sold in the same month last year. On the contrary, Hyundai’s presence in rural India has become quite substantial, contributing 22.1 per cent of HMIL sales and its highest-ever monthly sales.
The brand’s SUVs continue to enjoy the popular sentiment which helps it continue to maintain a strong presence in Hyundai’s portfolio at 68.8 per cent. Also noteworthy was sales of Hyundai’s CNG vehicles which comprised 14.4 per cent of sales share. However, despite these positive outcomes, the post-festive period slowdown must have hit the brand pretty badly, wherein its cumulative sales were 2.4 per cent less in the domestic market, and coupled with exports — 6.9 per cent less, compared to November 2023.
Hyundai’s export figures also dropped quite significantly last month with just 13,006 units exported, compared to 16,350 units it exported last year in the same month. This marked a sharp 20.5 per cent decline.
However, on a year-to-date basis, Hyundai has more or less been stable, and this year till November its total sales have grown by 0.7 per cent. Hyundai India has already retailed 5,63,361 units, which is well over the 5,59,361 units it registered during the same period, last year.
