The most powerful Bajaj Pulsar could debut a new design language for the Pulsar family.
Good news for Bajaj Pulsar fans as the company has confirmed the launch of the biggest Pulsar yet. At the Bajaj Pulsar N250 update ride, it was confirmed by Bajaj officials that the Pulsar NS400 will make its India debut on May 3. This is a big announcement as it kind of is a course correction for Bajaj Auto as until now it was focusing on the Bajaj Dominar 400 as its flagship motorcycle. With the introduction of the Pulsar NS400, Bajaj is betting big on its strongest brand in its portfolio.
The Pulsar NS400 is expected to debut a new design language that could set the template for future Pulsar models. We expect the new styling to be an evolution of the NS200’s and not be too radical. Being a Pulsar expect the new NS400 to be muscular and butch. The flagship Pulsar is likely to be powered by the same 373cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine as seen on the Dominar 400.

In its current tune, the motor develops 39.4 bhp and 35 Nm of torque. It’s paired with a 6-speed gearbox and a slipper clutch. We feel that Bajaj engineers might retune the engine a bit to offer more low-end torque to better suit the streetfighter characteristics of the upcoming Bajaj bike. The Bajaj Pulsar NS400 could feature traction control, Bluetooth connectivity for call and message alerts. Turn-by-turn navigation and even ABS-based riding modes.
What will be interesting to see is whether Bajaj engineers will opt for the same perimeter frame as seen on the Dominar 400 or go for a new chassis. The biggest drawback of the Dominar’s frame is its heavyweight, which is kind of manageable for a cruiser but will not suit the streetfighter DNA of the NS400. Suspension duties will be handled by USD fork/monoshock combination and stopping power will be courtesy disc brakes on both ends.
The Bajaj Pulsar NS400 could be priced around Rs 2.05 lakh to 2.20 lakh (ex-showroom). While there is no direct rival for the Pulsar NS400, given its aggressive price tag, it will go up against the likes of the Suzuki Gixxer 250, Honda CB300F, Hero Mavrick 400 and the Yamaha FZ25.
