The new powertrain makes 100 bhp and 70 Nm less than the V8 PHEV in the Speed models.
Bentley has introduced a new V8 plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) powertrain for the Continental GT, Continental GT Convertible and Flying Spur. The three cars were introduced in mid-2024 and came with a V8 PHEV powertrain, but the new one is detuned and meant for a more “entry-level” variant.
The new powertrain develops 671 bhp and 930 Nm, which, compared to the other V8 PHEV, develops 100 bhp and 70 Nm less. With the new powertrain, the Continental GT can sprint from 0-100 kmph in 3.7 seconds, while the convertible version does it in 3.9 seconds. The four-door Flying Spur does the run in 3.9 seconds. Since it is a PHEV, the new powertrain also allows for an electric-only range of up to 85 km for the Continental GT and up to 82 km for the convertible. The top speed of the three cars is limited to 270 kmph.
The new powertrain is available with the standard variants of the three cars or with the newly introduced Azure variants. The Azure gets a different grille, with vertical slats finished in chrome instead of a honeycomb pattern. It also gets more chrome embellishments than the standard variants, but as it is a Bentley, customers can modify any variant as per their choice. The Azure also gets different designs for the 22-inch alloy wheels. With the coupe, the Azure variant gets a panoramic sunroof, while the convertible gets neck warmers. Inside, the seats and door cards feature new 3D quilting and Azure embroidery on the headrests.
