Bentley Motors has teased its next big launch. The company’s long-awaited first electric model will be called the Bentley Torcal, named after the El Torcal de Antequera rock formation, a dramatic natural limestone formation in Andalusia, Spain. The name is also a nod to the word “torque”, conveying its performance.
This will be the fourth model line in the British luxury marque’s current portfolio, joining the Continental GT, Flying Spur, and Bentayga.
Bentley’s teaser video is accompanied by an image showing part of the rear of the Torcal in shadow, though more detail is easily revealed with a little editing. Bentley promises that its new model will be just as luxurious and painstakingly crafted as the rest of its lineup, with comparable performance, though it will be “new in concept”.
Bentley has announced that the Torcal will be fully unveiled in London on September 23 at exactly 19:19 local time; a nod to the year the company was founded. More information will be released in the time leading up to the full reveal.
Commenting on the name announcement, company Chairman and CEO Dr Frank-Steffen Walliser said “For 107 years, Bentleys have been the most incredibly complete cars — effortless performance, outstanding comfort, exquisite British handcraftsmanship using the best natural materials and a soundtrack with soul. Our new Torcal sets extraordinary benchmarks in every area that matters, and may just be the most considered car in our history.”
The company, which is owned by the Volkswagen Group, began publicly talking about plans to introduce its first EV as far back as November 2024, with a 2026 launch target. At the time, the car was described as a luxury urban SUV. A strategic plan called Beyond100+, aimed at transitioning entirely to electric cars by 2035, was announced at the time. However, the company, like many others, has since stated that it will not abandon ICE engines completely. In mid-2025, the dramatic EXP 15 Design Vision Concept was unveiled, also hinting at its design direction for the upcoming electric model.
In India, Bentley is part of the Škoda Volkswagen Group, having formally established its presence in 2025 after yaers of being represented by an official importer. The move, and subsequent opening of dedicated dealerships in multiple cities, was aimed at capturing more of the growing luxury car market here.
