Best Of 2024: Most Anticipated SUVs Launched in 2024

2024 was a big year for SUVs as lots of them, ranging from ₹10 lakh to ₹10 crore, were launched this year. This year, highly anticipated SUVs like the Mahindra Thar Roxx, the Skoda Kylaq and the Tata Curvv, made their way to our market. Let’s check out five of the most anticipated SUVs launched in India in 2024. 

1. Mahindra Thar Roxx

Launched: August 15, 2024

Price: ₹12.99 - 22.49 lakh (ex-showroom, India)

The Thar Roxx was Mahindra’s biggest launch in 2024. The five-door version of its highly popular off-roader, the Thar, had been on the cards ever since the second-gen three-door version was launched in 2020. The Thar Roxx is available with a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine as well as a 2.2-litre diesel engine. Both are available with a choice of either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox and rear-wheel drive configuration. Only the diesel comes with an option of four-wheel drive with both gearboxes. 

2. Hyundai Creta

Launched: January 16, 2024

Price: ₹11 - 20.45 lakh (ex-showroom, India)

The Creta has been the strongest-selling model for Hyundai for a long time. And Hyundai’s compact SUV got a much deserved facelift at the beginning of this year. With the facelift, the design of the Creta has improved and become more subtle. It gets big L-shaped LED DRLs up front and a similar treatment for the taillamps. The design of the cabin has also matured compared to the pre-facelift model and now gets two 10.25-inch screens. Other features include a 360-degree camera, ADAS, panoramic sunroof and more. 

3. Tata Curvv

Launched: August 7, 2024 (EV) and September 2, 2024 (ICE)

Price: ₹17.49 - 21.99 lakh (EV) and ₹9.99 - 17.69 lakh (ICE) (ex-showroom, India)

The Curvv is Tata Motors’ contender in the highly competitive, cut-throat compact SUV space. To give itself a fighting chance, the Curvv is a coupe SUV that is available with two turbo-petrol engines, a diesel engine and an electric powertrain. The Curvv has features like a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, a 10.25-inch virtual instrument cluster, automatic climate control, panoramic sunroof, ADAS and more. 

4. Citroën Basalt

Launched: August 9, 2024

Price: ₹7.99 - 13.62 lakh (ex-showroom, India)

The Basalt is Citroën’s second compact SUV after the Aircross, and like the Curvv, it is also a coupe SUV. The Basalt comes with a choice of two petrol engines—a 1.2-litre petrol and a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic. The Basalt doesn’t have a lot of features but comes with a 10.25-inch virtual instrument cluster, a 7.0-inch virtual instrument cluster, a reverse camera, and more. 

5. Skoda Kylaq

Launched: November 5, 2024

Price: ₹7.89 - 14.40 lakh (ex-showroom, India)

The Kylaq is currently the most affordable Skoda model in India and enters another cutthroat segment of subcompact SUVs. It is available with a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. Features on Skoda’s subcompact SUV include a 10.1-inch infotainment system, an 8-inch virtual instrument cluster, a reverse camera, a single-pane sunroof, and more.
