Bgauss RUV350 Max vs Ather Rizta Z 3.7 - Spec Comparison

Bgauss launched a unique scooter RUV350 in the market which brings the design elements of a motorcycle to an electric scooter while the Ather Rizta created waves in the market with its family-focused design. The prices of the top variant of both scooters have a difference of about ₹ 6000.  We are putting them on a spec comparison between the Ather Rizta Z 3.7 kWh and the Bgauss RUV350 Max which makes it easy for you to decide which one is for you. 

Design 

Both scooters highlight the design but for their uniqueness. The Bgauss RUV350 brings the step-through design which is popular in Southeast Asia. It has a metal body which is rare to be seen in electric scooters and large 16-inch wheels that give it a slight motorcycle-like look at a glance. Ather's highlight is its neat family scooter design.

While it's nothing unique overall it does have nice intuitiveness tucked in little design bits. It does not look too sporty so it should not intimidate family users while the popping colours give it a little bit of frill. The seat is the largest in its class so storage and space is another USP Ather is banking on with the Rizta. Both the scooters approach a very unique design language based on their needs. 

Features

In terms of features, the Ather Rizta Z takes the lead over here. It has loads of connected features integrated well with the software. The display is a large 6.9-inch unit and is touchscreen which the Bgauss RUV350 Max skips on with a smaller 5-inch display. There are tonnes of features on the Ather but they are covered under the ₹20,000 pro pack that is an add-on. On the other hand, Bgauss is offering ₹20,000introductory benefits on the RUV350 Max which offers free insurance, connected features for the app and an extended warranty. 

Both scooters have safety tech such as fall detection with motor cut off, side stands cut and hill hold. Ather also adds traction control on top of that. Overall connected tech is better on the Ather Rizta Z with its software-focused development team. 

Also, the storage spaces on the Ather Rizta Z are well-planned along with great add-ons to make them more functional. The under-seat storage is 19 litres more than the Bgauss RUV350 Max’s 15-litre unit. The Bgauss RUV350 Max makes up for it by offering storage for the charger on the footboard.

Battery and Range

With a bigger battery of 3.7kWh Ather claims almost 24 km more range over the Bgauss RUV350. Both have a non-removable battery set up on the variants that we are taking a look at but the lower variants on the Bgauss RUV350 Max have a removable battery setup.

Charging Times and Chargers

Ather’s charger connects to a slot behind the apron while the Bgauss RUV350 has it under the seat. Bgauss has a clever solution wherein you can close the seat when plugged in for changing and that secures it from anyone tampering with it. Bgauss RUV350 gets a 500W charger as standard. There are 2 more optional fast chargers you can buy out of which is a fixed wall-mounted unit which can charge the scooter full as fast as in 3 hrs. 

Ather offers a 700 Watt Duo Charger which can be taken along and also be a wall mounted unit. It can charge the scooter to 80% in 4 hrs 30 mins. Along with it, Ather grid chargers can let you add 15 km of range in just a 10 min charge. 

Motor Specs and Top Speed

Motor on the Ather Rizta Z is slightly powerful but offers significantly faster acceleration and 5 kmph more on top speed. The motor setup on the Bgauss RUV350 Max is a unique setup that brings in efficiency using a direct drive which cuts the losses seen in belt drive. It has 3 modes – Eco, Rider and Sport – which limit the top speed at 45 kmph, 60 kmph and 75 kmph respectively. The Ather Rizta only gets 2 modes Smart Eco And Zip mode. Acceleration changes on each of them.

Warranty 

The Bgauss RUV350 Max stands out with its comprehensive standard warranty. Unlike some competitors, Bgauss covers all the essential parts – vehicle, battery, and charger – for a reassuring 3 years or 36,000 kilometres (whichever comes first). This simplifies warranty claims and gives you peace of mind knowing repairs or replacements for these components are covered. Bgauss even offers an enticing introductory benefit that potentially extends the battery warranty to 5 years or 1 lakh kilometres. 

On the other hand, Ather Rizta's standard warranty covers the vehicle and battery for 3 years or 30,000 kilometres, which is decent but falls short of Bgauss' inclusivity as it excludes the charger. Ather provides a separate 3-year warranty for the charger, but for a longer battery warranty, you'd need to opt for its "Ather Battery Protect" program under the pro package. This extends the warranty to 5 years or 60,000 kilometres, bringing it closer to the extended coverage offered by Bgauss.
