The Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulance service by Blinkit was launched earlier this year and is currently active in parts of Delhi NCR.
Blinkit, the instant delivery service, was recently praised by doctors at the All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) for its Blinkit Ambulance service. The Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulance with a claimed 10-minute response time was launched in parts of Delhi NCR earlier this year.
Dr Deepak Agrawal, Professor, Neurosurgery, AIIMS, shared a post on LinkedIn commending the BLS ambulance from Blinkit saying that the Blinkit Ambulance service is “the healthcare revolution India has been waiting for.” He also mentioned that the patient in the ambulance came with C-spine stabilised, suction done for excessive secretions, started on NRBM (non-rebreather mask) for low room air saturation, and more.
Many users on LinkedIn had a mixed response to the Blinkit Ambulance service. One said, “Blinkit Ambulance Service Charges 2000/INR - do you think all people in India can afford this? Shouldn't Govt work on this with private players and make this place affordable to everyone?”. Another doctor commended saying, “Kudos to Blinkit, it can drastically reduce average response time. Meanwhile, hospitals have to be prepared to reduce ambulance ramping.”
The Blinkit Ambulance service was launched in Delhi NCR was launched in India in January 2025. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Albinder Dhindsa, CEO, Blinkit, said the BLS ambulances will come equipped with essential life-saving equipment like oxygen cylinders, Automated External Defibrillators, stretchers and more. Each ambulance will also come with a paramedic, a medical assistant and a trained driver. Dhindsa said the Blinkit Ambulance’s goal isn’t profit but said it will “operate this service at an affordable cost for customers and invest in really solving this critical problem for the long term.” Currently, the BLS is available in parts of Gurugram with more cities getting the service in the near future.
