BMW Motorrad’s first electric scooter in India will be an expensive affair.
BMW Motorrad has started accepting bookings for the CE 04 prior to its India debut. BMW Motorrad’s first electric two-wheeler offering in India will go on sale on July 24. Interested buyers can contact all BMW Motorrad dealerships across India to book the upcoming electric scooter. The BMW CE 04 is the flagship electric scooter in the German brand’s portfolio and will be brought to India via the CBU route. BMW Motorrad has been tight-lipped about the pricing of the new scooter, our estimate is that it could be priced around ₹ 25 lakh, making it the most expensive electric two-wheeler to go on sale in India.
The CE 04 looks unlike any other scooter on sale given its unique styling and looks straight out of a sci-fi movie. The design does have some resemblance to a maxi-scooter but even by that standards, it manages to make a style statement. The BMW electric scooter’s motor delivers 31 kW and 61 Nm. It manages to accelerate from 0-50 kmph in 2.6 seconds and a limited top speed of 120 kmph, impressive numbers given its heft of 231 kg! The BMW CE 04 features a 8.5 kWh battery unit and the claimed range is 130 km. The performance and range numbers aren’t actually very impressive when one compares it against home-grown scooters such as the Ola S1 Pro, TVS iQube and the Ather 450, which are significantly cheaper. Talking about charging time, the CE 04 can be fully charged in 4 hrs and 20 mins with a 2.3 kW standard charger, whereas it takes an hour less with the optional 6.9 kW charger.

The BMW CE 04 isn’t a practical electric scooter but more of a style statement and it’s expected to be available in limited numbers to maintain exclusivity. In the past, BMW had launched the C 400 GT scooter at a whopping ₹11.25 lakh (ex-showroom) and it was sold out without much effort.
